Lou Torchia, Director of the Voluntary Campaign Management Office and Deputy Secretary of Defense,
William Lynn III, hold a 2009 CFCNCA Summit Award.  The award goes to departments and independent
agencies achieving at least a 3 percent increase in giving over the previous year's results.
For the 2009 campaign, the Department of Defense had a 6 percent increase.

The Department of Defense celebrated their record-breaking 2009 Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA) fund drive with a program held at the Pentagon Library and Conference Center.

"As the president said in his State of the Union Address, this last year has been a tough one for many people in America and around the world ... I know people had to dig deeper to give," Deputy Secretary of Defense, William Lynn said at the event. "Despite the uncertainty in the economy, the men and women in the Department of Defense have come through again."
