Show Some Love Day, Giving Tuesday, and International Volunteer Day are key promotional days
WASHINGTON, Oct. 23, 2017 – The Combined Federal Campaign of the National Capital Area (CFCNCA), the annual workplace giving opportunity for Federal employees in Washington, D.C., and surrounding areas, incorporates exciting new components to the program ushered in by the Office of Personnel Management. New this year, Federal employees have the opportunity to support causes they care about through donating and volunteerism. A new online donation portal streamlines the campaign and provides one central giving system for Federal employees to make their pledges. The 2017 campaign runs through Jan. 12, 2018, and members of the Federal community can donate and learn more by visiting cfcnca.org.
“The generosity of the Federal community has always been inspiring and now there are even more ways to give through the CFC,” said Vince Micone, Chairperson of the Local Federal Coordinating Committee that oversees the CFCNCA.
With thousands of participating charities, the CFC includes a myriad of causes to represent the diverse interests of Federal employees. “Through the campaign, Federal employees can support charities helping communities affected by natural disasters, like the recent Hurricanes Harvey, Irma and Maria, the earthquake in Mexico, and the California wildfires, as well as those that support veterans, cancer research, animal rescue, clean water, and many other worthy causes,” continued Micone.
The highly successful Show Some Love theme, which highlights causes Federal employees and retirees are most passionate about, will be continued this year, along with the use of hashtag #ShowSomeLoveCFC. Key campaign promotional days are:
- Nov. 2 – Show Some Love Day: Federal employees are encouraged to choose their cause and share why it’s important to them.
- Nov. 28 – #GivingTuesday: Federal employees are encouraged to join in on the global movement of giving by making an online donation on #GivingTuesday.
- Dec. 5 – International Volunteer Day: Federal employees are encouraged to expand their impact by pledging volunteer time to charities that represent their cause.
