Competing for a Cause at the Pentagon

On Thursday, December 1, the Pentagon Auditorium put on a less-than-usual event. Washington Headquarters Services (WHS) put a familiar game show spin on an exciting opportunity to promote charities sponsored by the CFCNCA. Bill Brazis, WHS Director and WHS CFC Chair, played the game show host.

WHS and the Pentagon Force Protection Agency (PFPA) aligned with the Director of Administration and Management (DA&M) under the Office of the Secretary of Defense. Contestants formed ten teams based on directorate or office across the DA&M family and engaged in fierce competition to answer trivia questions. Questions selected from four categories, including Arts & Literature, History, Science & Technology and Sports & Leisure.

The winning team, “PFPA Power” (PFPA), and runner-up, “Enterprise Einsteins” (WHS Enterprise Management), were given award certificates following lively game show rivalry. Certificates were also presented to the contestant group with the most team spirit DA&M.

Six charities also attended the event to participate in the fun and share information about their organizations during three “commercial breaks.” Charity speakers emphasized the ways in which donations help their organizations to achieve their missions every day.

The audience embraced this activity and showed enthusiasm for a great cause. WHS raised more than $175,000 for CFCNCA charities this year, exceeding its overall goal for 2011.
