Amid an overflow crowd and a carnival atmosphere, the United States Patent and Trademark Office (USPTO) kicked off their 2008 Combined Federal Campaign (CFC) fund drive in their Madison Auditorium.

The event featured numerous carnival games, food and festivities all designed to bring awareness to the 2008 CFC campaign and also raise some money for it.

Jon Dudas, the Under Secretary of Commerce for Intellectual Property and Director of the USPTO was the keynote speaker, and he had the honor of announcing their 2008 campaign goal of $1.346 million.

USPTO Campaign Manager Mariam Hooks was the host of an event that also featured a charity fair, guest speakers from various CFC-supported agencies, an appearance from USPTO mascot Trademarky, and remarks from Campaign Manager Danyale Little from the Department of Commerce. "I see the Catalog of Caring not just as a charity list, but as an opportunity. An opportunity to give back to my community", said Mr. Little.

In keeping with the carnival theme, there were plenty of games ranging from ring toss, to darts to Wii games.
